Product Overview

The Applied Acoustic Engineering (AAE) CSP-NP is a compact, highly portable seismic energy source designed primarily for shallow-water geophysical surveys. As the smallest and lightest unit in the CSP range, it is specifically intended for use with Boomer plates (AA251/AA301) and small Dura-Spark arrays (L80/L200) on small vessels of opportunity.

Despite its small size, the CSP-NP has been recently upgraded to include Reverse Voltage Technology. This allows it to support the modern Dura-Spark range by providing the negative polarity required to preserve electrode life and produce a cleaner acoustic pulse.

  • Dual-Voltage Versatility: Its ability to toggle between standard and reverse voltage modes makes it compatible with both traditional boomer plates and modern, high-resolution sparkers like the L80.
  • Automatic Variable Input Power (AVIP): Includes "soft start" circuitry that limits the initial current draw. This allows the system to operate safely using small portable generators (as low as 3.5kVA) without risk of tripping breakers.
  • High Repetition Rate: Capable of firing up to 6 pulses per second, providing the high horizontal data density needed for identifying fine-scale stratigraphic features and small buried objects.
  • Proprietary Pulse Shaping: Features internal circuitry that optimizes the discharge to create a sharp, repeatable acoustic signal with minimal reverberation or "ringing."

  • External Selection: All energy settings (50J to 350J) are selectable via a high-quality rotary switch on the front panel.
  • Rugged Housing: Supplied in a shock-mounted 4U transit case that is IP-rated when the cover is in place.
  • Safety First: Equipped with open-circuit shutdown, over-temperature protection, and a specialized high-voltage connector with an integrated mechanical interlock.
  • Solid State Discharge: Uses a high-current semiconductor discharge method for silent operation and long-term reliability.
